Hans-Dieter Flick wanted Barcelona to sign a player like N'Golo Kante last summer according to Diario Sport Toni Juanmarti.
The Frenchman was among Barca targets at the time but the links were far from advanced.
Flick ended up sticking to Marc Casado and Eric Garcia. While the German seems delighted with Casado he has been using Garcia in the defensive midfield despite knowing that the latter doesn't really suit the required profile of a ball-winning midfielder.
Now Barca head coach reportedly wants the club to go for someone like Leon Goretzka which seems unlikely at this point. As for Eric Garcia the defender is expected to leave the club next year.
